Miscellaneous fixes (#24753)
* materialize event counts in metrics endpoint The metrics endpoint stored a lazy peewee query on the shared Prometheus collector, and collect() ran it later. Overlapping scrapes run in separate threadpool threads, so two requests could execute and step the same query's sqlite cursor at once. The rows are now read with list() before they reach the collector. * fix fps overflow restarting ffmpeg after 3 seconds instead of 3 retry intervals This is a regression from 0.18. The watchdog has restarted ffmpeg after 3 consecutive fps overflow checks since #13651, which was 3 retry intervals (30s by default) when the loop ran every retry_interval. #21297 moved the loop to 1s ticks without converting the count, so the window shrank to 3s. camera_fps is a 10s average, so one burst of buffered frames after a stream hiccup could keep it over the limit long enough to restart a healthy camera, and the next reconnect burst could repeat it. The threshold is now 3 * retry_interval ticks. When the count filled while restarts were still rate limited, the watchdog logged "Exiting ffmpeg...", marked the camera offline and reset the count without restarting. The check now waits for can_restart, so the log, status and restart always happen together. * keep recording cleanup running after a failed pass An exception anywhere in a cleanup pass, such as an OSError from a read-only or unmounted storage path, ended the recording cleanup thread with nothing logged. Retention stopped until restart, and recordings, previews and database rows kept growing. Each pass now logs the exception and the loop continues. * expose frigate_camera_events as a gauge The metric reports the current count of events in the database, which drops when retention prunes old events. As a counter, each prune read as a counter reset, so increase() and rate() inflated event counts. The series name changes from frigate_camera_events_total to frigate_camera_events. The test's porch/inside assertion was missing its `in event.text` and always passed. * keep uvicorn idle connections open longer than nginx's upstream keepalive uvicorn closed idle connections after its 5s default while nginx kept them pooled for 60s, so a request nginx sent on a connection uvicorn was closing got a 502. nginx retries that on a fresh connection for most methods, but not for POST or PATCH. * snapshot websocket clients under the manager lock in the output loop The output loop iterated ws4py's live websocket dict without its lock, so a client connecting or disconnecting mid-iteration raised "dictionary changed size during iteration" and killed the output loop. It now copies the clients under manager.lock once per frame and skips terminated ones, matching the jsmpeg and birdseye broadcasters. * only cache preview frames when recording is enabled The segment-end check tested the record config object instead of record.enabled, and the first frame after startup was written unconditionally. With recording disabled, the first segment still cached frames and encoded a preview. * fix untranslated unknown resolution text in camera info dialog * detect all AMD GPUs from vainfo The vainfo check only matched "AMD Radeon Graphics", so drivers reporting names like "AMD Radeon Vega 8 Graphics", "AMD Radeon RX 6600", "AMD Custom GPU 0405", or older codename strings fell through and their GPU stats were collected as Intel. It now matches Mesa's "for AMD" driver string. * return a 500 instead of raising when go2rtc is unreachable The two go2rtc stream GETs had no exception handling or timeout, so a go2rtc outage raised a connection error with a traceback, and a hung go2rtc held the request open indefinitely. Both now catch request errors, log the cause, and use a timeout. The per-stream probe gets a 35s read timeout because go2rtc probes each source in turn, and one unresponsive source takes about 10s. * retry camera snapshots after a failed load AutoUpdatingCameraImage only scheduled the next frame from onLoad, so a single failed latest.webp request froze the image until the component remounted. It now retries on error, dropping the periodic cache key so the retry requests a fresh URL. * reuse pooled upstream connections for nginx auth subrequests The /auth subrequest proxied to a variable address, which nginx can't pool, and its location-level headers dropped the inherited Connection header so nginx sent Connection: close. Every authenticated request opened and closed its own loopback connection to the API. It now proxies to the frigate_api upstream with an empty Connection header so the keepalive pool is reused. |

Mask all camera credentials in config (#24719)
* mask every credential form in camera and go2rtc urls
The credential mask only matched a userinfo with a [A-Za-z0-9_-] username or the exact user=..&password=.. query order, so dotted or email usernames, password-only userinfo (tapo://pw@host), empty usernames, reversed or renamed query credentials, and token query strings (ring refresh_token, nest client_secret, homekit client_private) reached every authenticated user through /config, /go2rtc/streams, /stats and /metrics. clean_camera_user_pass now masks any userinfo and any credential-named query parameter, and the config save restore and the settings UI detect masked paths with the same patterns so a save never writes the mask back over the real credential.
* redact go2rtc rtsp, api and webrtc credentials in /config
/config cleaned only go2rtc.streams, so go2rtc.rtsp and go2rtc.api usernames and passwords and the WebRTC ICE server credentials went back verbatim to any authenticated user. They now use the redaction sentinel like the MQTT and ONVIF passwords. Config save already dropped a field equal to the sentinel, but lists are leaf values after flattening, so an ice_servers list echoed back from /config would have written the sentinel to disk. Save now drops any value that contains it.
* bound the credential mask to the url authority
The userinfo pattern ran from any host:port to the last "@" in the token, so rtsp://host:554/live?x=a@b lost its host and a comma between two URLs was swallowed, which merged the paths /ffprobe splits on. It also backtracked quadratically on long lines with many "://", and every subprocess log line goes through it. A "user:" userinfo now runs to the last "@" before the next URL unless a port follows the colon, and any other userinfo stops at the end of the authority. Query masking now covers only real secret names, so auth, private and autoken are left alone.
* restore masked credentials by value on config save
Masked camera paths were restored by index, so deleting the first input wrote its credentials onto the next input. Each masked path now matches the saved input that masks to the same value, with roles breaking a tie, and an unmatched or ambiguous path is rejected instead of written. A redacted ICE server is filled from the saved server with the same urls, or rejected when its urls changed, instead of dropping the whole list. /config also redacts the go2rtc mqtt credentials, the ngrok command, homekit pins and pairings, and publish destinations.
* restore masked camera paths from the saved yaml
Masked paths were restored from the in-memory config, where {FRIGATE_*} placeholders are already resolved, so saving an untouched camera replaced the placeholder in config.yml with the real secret. Masked paths now restore from the YAML on disk, matched against each saved path with its placeholders resolved, so the path is written back as it was. In-memory saves still restore from the live config.
* mask passwords that start with digits
The port check in the userinfo pattern also matched passwords, so rtsp://admin:2024/pw@host and rtsp://admin:12#abc@host went out unmasked where the old regex masked them. The check is gone. Stopping at the next "://" already keeps the comma between two ffprobe paths, and a host:port/path@x is over-masked for display only, since saves restore it by value.
* reject config saves that still hold masked credentials
Index-keyed input maps, query-string saves and go2rtc stream lists echoed from /config bypassed the credential restore and could write a masked path or the redaction sentinel over the real value. Every save, body or query string, now rejects any value that still holds one after the restores run, naming the field.
* fix partial password masking and ambiguous ice server restore
- Mask userinfo before query params so a credential key inside a password can't leave the rest of it visible
- Reject restoring redacted ice servers when saved servers share urls but hold different accounts
* mask the whole url when userinfo and a query credential overlap
Masking userinfo first leaked the tail of a query password holding "@" on URLs with a port, like rtsp://10.0.0.2:554/live?password=pre@suf. When the userinfo span contains a credential query key, the mask now covers the rest of the URL in both clean_camera_user_pass and maskCredentials.
* resolve placeholders with dev's env module
* reveal camera paths by masked value instead of position
After deleting or reordering inputs in the camera ffmpeg form, the path widget looked up raw_paths by index and revealed another input's real path, which a save then wrote with the wrong roles. The widget now matches the saved path whose mask equals the field's value, the same rule the backend uses on save, and doesn't reveal when there is no single match.
* stop redacting ice servers and break camera path ties by role
The WebRTC player passes /config's ice_servers to RTCPeerConnection, so redacting them sent the placeholder as the TURN account. ICE servers are no longer redacted and the restore code for them is removed. The camera path widget now uses the input's roles to pick between saved paths that mask to the same value, as the backend does on save.

Brings the go2rtc security fixes from #24658 to dev. Dev-specific changes in the merge: - frigate/config/env.py stays deleted; the environment_vars protection for GO2RTC_ALLOW_ARBITRARY_EXEC moves to apply_config_env_vars in frigate/util/env.py, so the value never reaches os.environ - services.py imports substitute_frigate_vars from frigate.util.env and maps UnknownVariableError to the unknown variable message - go2rtc stream tests patch dev's import-time exec override snapshot and its FRIGATE_* variable sources - test_http_media.py keeps dev's _insert_recording helper; the one added on master replaced it and broke the dev tests Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

* update version * Restrict ffmpeg: go2rtc sources added through the API go2rtc expands ffmpeg: sources into an exec: command line built from the source's #key=value parameters, so the echo/expr/exec prefix check on PUT /go2rtc/streams could be bypassed to run arbitrary ffmpeg arguments. Sources submitted through the API now only accept the ffmpeg: parameters the UI and docs use (video, audio, hardware with preset names, plus numeric width/height/rotate/bitrate/timeout and async). Quotes, whitespace, #raw, #input, #drawtext and unknown parameters are rejected unless GO2RTC_ALLOW_ARBITRARY_EXEC is set. Sources defined in the config file are unchanged. Fixes GHSA-qjjw-3v66-279f Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Only allow existing streams on proxied go2rtc live paths nginx proxies /live/mse/api/ws, /live/webrtc/api/ws and /api/go2rtc/webrtc straight to go2rtc, which creates a new ad hoc stream from any src that is not an existing stream name and starts the producer it describes. Any authenticated user, including the built-in viewer role, could use this to launch arbitrary go2rtc sources without going through the restricted-source checks on PUT /go2rtc/streams. The /auth subrequest now denies these paths unless every src names an existing stream: a camera or its live stream, a go2rtc stream from the config, or a stream go2rtc reports at runtime. This applies to every role, and the runtime lookup fails closed when go2rtc cannot be reached. Fixes GHSA-93xj-hg88-ffg7 Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Ignore GO2RTC_ALLOW_ARBITRARY_EXEC in environment_vars environment_vars installs every key into the Frigate process environment at startup, so an admin could enable GO2RTC_ALLOW_ARBITRARY_EXEC from the config and turn off the restricted go2rtc source checks on the API. The override is meant to be set by the operator in the container environment (or the Home Assistant add-on options), so it is now skipped with a warning when it appears in environment_vars. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Apply go2rtc source restrictions to config/save and config/set go2rtc.streams written through config/save or config/set were only filtered at startup, which blocks echo/expr/exec and the map form but not the ffmpeg: parameters that PUT /go2rtc/streams now rejects. Saving a stream this way and restarting bypassed the API restriction. Both endpoints now reject a change that adds a go2rtc stream source that fails is_restricted_go2rtc_api_source, or a map-form source, unless GO2RTC_ALLOW_ARBITRARY_EXEC is set. Sources already in the saved config for the same stream are left alone, so streams configured on disk keep working and resubmitting the whole file from the config editor succeeds. config/set restores the previous file when it rejects a change. Follow-up to GHSA-qjjw-3v66-279f Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Match go2rtc stream-proxy paths the way nginx does /auth compared the raw $request_uri path against the three go2rtc stream-proxy paths exactly, while nginx matches its prefix locations against the normalized URI. Encoded characters, repeated slashes, dot segments or a suffix on the path skipped the stream check even though nginx still proxied the request to go2rtc. The go2rtc stream locations now set a variable that the auth subrequest forwards as X-Go2rtc-Stream-Proxy (client headers are not forwarded, so it cannot be spoofed). As a fallback, /auth also normalizes the path like nginx (percent-decoding, merging slashes, resolving dot segments) and prefix matches it, and splits the raw URI by hand since urlparse reads a leading // as a host. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Parse config stream changes with Frigate's YAML loader The go2rtc stream check on config/save and config/set parsed the config with the safe loader and treated a parse error as an empty config, while Frigate and the go2rtc startup script use the round-trip loader. Input that only the round-trip loader accepts, such as a tagged root map, hid new stream sources from the check. The check now uses the same round-trip loader and rejects the request when the new config cannot be parsed. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Resolve go2rtc stream placeholders the same way everywhere The go2rtc startup script expanded stream sources with str.format(), which also supports attribute and index access, while the config API check used substitute_frigate_vars and fell back to the raw string when a placeholder could not be resolved. A placeholder the API check could not resolve could therefore expand into a restricted source at startup. The startup script now uses substitute_frigate_vars, like the rest of the config, and the API check rejects a stream source whose placeholders cannot be resolved. The startup script's own copy of the FRIGATE_* env var map is removed; the shared one also honors CREDENTIALS_DIRECTORY. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Accept codec sample rates in ffmpeg: go2rtc sources The ffmpeg: parameter allowlist only accepted plain names for video, audio and hardware, so the documented HomeKit source with #audio=opus/16000 was rejected by PUT /go2rtc/streams, config/save and config/set. Names may now carry a numeric /rate suffix. A rate without a name is still rejected. All ffmpeg: sources in the docs pass the check. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Restore the environment after go2rtc exec override tests Tests that removed or set GO2RTC_ALLOW_ARBITRARY_EXEC did not restore a value that was already present, so later tests could run with a changed security setting. They now use patch.dict on os.environ. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Revert the go2rtc startup script to str.format substitution Restores create_config.py to its state on master. The config API check rejects any stream source whose {FRIGATE_*} placeholders it cannot resolve with substitute_frigate_vars, and for every source it accepts, str.format() at startup either produces the same string or fails and stops go2rtc startup. Changing the startup script is therefore not needed for the fix, and leaving it alone avoids a conflict with dev, which already moved this script to the new env helpers. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Explain why a go2rtc stream change was rejected A stream source with an undefined or malformed {FRIGATE_*} placeholder was reported as a restricted source, which reads like a security block when the user made a typo. The config API now reports unknown variables and invalid placeholders separately from restricted sources. `notifications.email` is now an `EnvString`, so it can come from `secrets.yaml`, a Docker secret, or a container env var. `/api/config` returns the resolved value, so the email is now redacted for non-admin users, including each camera's inherited copy and the profile `base_config` copy. |

* implement auto mode for single camera live view
* add transcoded live streams and stream ordering for auto mode
Cameras can now add lower quality live streams that go2rtc transcodes to H.264 on demand. `live.transcode` takes a source stream and a list of heights and bitrates, and each quality becomes a `{camera}_transcode_{height}p` stream. The config validator adds them to `live.streams` without moving any the user already placed, and drops them when transcoding is disabled or a height changes. `create_config.py` writes them into go2rtc's generated config at startup, and saving the config or deleting a camera syncs them through go2rtc's API, so no restart is needed. They use `#hardware`, so go2rtc picks a hardware encoder and falls back to the CPU when there isn't one.
The Live playback settings stream list can be reordered by drag, since its order is the auto ladder. Auto order sorts it by bitrate, measuring native streams through a new admin-only `/go2rtc/streams/{name}/bitrate` endpoint and using the configured bitrate for transcoded ones. A pure reorder wasn't saved before because RJSF, the settings form, and `update_yaml` all ignore map key order. Sections can now mark a map with `orderedMaps`, which sends the whole map with `replace_paths` so `config_set` rewrites it in order.
Transcoded streams aren't in `go2rtc.streams`, which only lists yaml streams, so the frontend treated them as not restreamed and fell back to jsmpeg. Every restream check now goes through `isRestreamedStream`.
Auto treated any stall with no bytes in the last 2 seconds as a dead camera and handed it to the error fallback, which went straight to jsmpeg. Heavy congestion can stop delivery completely, so congested viewers skipped every lower stream. Auto now declines only when stats show the camera offline, and a stall on a live camera steps down. The stream picker also has a Try highest quality button that sends auto back to the top stream.

Miscellaneous fixes (#24498)
* fix auto quality recovery after a downswitch The downswitch callback armed the upswitch probe, but `triggerDownswitch` reset the stall history right after the callback returned, which disarmed it again. Auto quality stayed on the sub stream until the next chunk boundary no matter how much the connection recovered. The governor now arms the probe itself after the reset. The chunk boundary effect also ran on mount, so when coverage was already cached it immediately undid the low quality cold start the seed effect had just picked. It now only runs when the chunk actually changes. * fix recording playback quality switches and silent codec failures A quality switch changes `bufferLength` a commit before the new source arrives, and since it was a dependency of the hls.js setup effect, the player rebuilt once on the outgoing playlist (jumping back to its original `startPosition`) and again on the new one. The buffer length now updates the running instance's config instead. A fatal codec error with no lower quality stream to fall back to did nothing at all, so playback just sat there with no message. It now shows the playback failure toast, which is also limited to once per source since hls.js and the video element can both report the same failure. * retry failed WebRTC probes and skip offline streams The connectivity probe only ever tried the first go2rtc stream and cached its result for the whole page session, so a single offline camera at the top of the go2rtc config marked WebRTC unreachable for every camera until a reload, as did any brief network hiccup. The probe now starts with the stream being viewed and moves on to the next one when go2rtc reports that it can't open the stream's source. A failed result is only reused for 30 seconds, and it's retried on the next mount or when the page becomes visible again. * fix two-way talk on cameras with AAC audio The mic button was enabled whenever WebRTC was globally available, but the live view only switched to the WebRTC player when the stream itself qualified for WebRTC, and AAC playback audio disqualifies it. On most cameras the mic showed as on while nothing was sent. Two-way talk only needs the stream's video to connect since the backchannel is sent, not received, so AAC playback audio no longer blocks it. The mic is also turned off when a stream switch makes talk unavailable. * keep Frigate+ model references when saving the models section `/api/config` served a Frigate+ model's path as the resolved `/config/model_cache/<id>` file, and since the models list is saved whole, editing any model in the settings UI wrote that cache path back to the config in place of `plus://<id>`. After a restart the model loaded as a custom model with the default labelmap. The config API now reports the `plus://<id>` reference the model was configured with, and the models section drops the fields the Frigate+ model info supplies (size, tensor, pixel format, dtype, and type) instead of pinning them in the config. * allow models to share shareable detection hardware The hardware picker treated every device another model listed as taken, so a second model couldn't pick an Intel GPU or the CPU that the first one already used. The backend only rejects reuse of devices that can't be shared (Coral, MemryX), so the picker now matches that and only marks exclusive units as claimed. * fix model card state and camera counts in the models editor Model cards were keyed by index, so deleting one handed its state (such as the selected model source tab) to the card after it. Cards are keyed by scene now, which is unique per model. The camera count on each card also ignored the backend's fallback to the `all` model, so a camera whose detect scene had no model of its own wasn't counted anywhere. It's counted under `all` now, which also feeds the recommended detector count. * share a unit's temperature across repeated detector devices Detector temperatures were matched to units by counting detectors of each type, so a device listed twice to run a second inference process (`hailo:PCIe` and `hailo:PCIe#2`) showed the next unit's temperature, or none at all. Distinct devices are numbered now and repeats share their unit's reading. * update monitored hardware after a runtime config swap `swap_runtime_config` rebound the stats emitter to the new config but not its `HardwareStats`, which kept polling hardware for the old config and applied camera updates to the discarded object. It now follows the swap along with its camera update subscriber. * time out model downloads that never respond `download_from_url` had no timeout, so a proxy or server that accepted the connection and never answered hung the download forever, including runtime downloads during startup. Connect and read timeouts now fail it like any other download error. The read timeout applies per socket read, so large models still finish. * resolve segment start times in segment order A camera stream's cached segments are probed concurrently, and each one chained its start off `last_segment_end` as soon as its own probe finished. When segments backed up in the cache and a later probe finished first, it chained off the wrong segment and the earlier one then moved `last_segment_end` backwards, so rows lost their exact adjacency. Probes still run concurrently, but each segment now waits for the one before it to settle its start before resolving its own. * plan exports from the same coverage the vod route serves The vod manifest nulls video-only glitch rows on audio-bearing streams, but exports planned their stream runs from the raw coverage, so a glitch row could produce a mixed-stream file or a 404 that failed the export. `null_audio_glitches` now works out each stream's audio composition itself, and exports go through it like the manifest and its realized timelines do. An unstaged auto export also paged its playlist and chapters over main whenever main had any rows in range, even when the manifest served the range from sub and main only contributed glitches or slivers at the edges. It now reads the rows of the stream its single run actually uses. * keep staged export chapters aligned across stream hand-offs Each staged run of a mixed-stream export is rendered from its own pinned vod playlist, and that playlist's first clip snaps back to the preceding keyframe, so every staged file runs up to a GOP longer than its slice of the merged timeline. Chapters were placed on the merged timeline, so they drifted further from the video at every hand-off. Chapter windows for staged exports are now planned the same way each run's playlist is, carrying that keyframe lead-in into the offsets. * clarify which hardware units only one model can use * add e2e tests for shareable hardware and Frigate+ model saves * only show the path field for a Frigate+ model without an API key Without `PLUS_API_KEY` the models editor has no Frigate+ tab, so a `plus://` model showed every custom model field. The size, format, type, and labelmap fields are all supplied by the Frigate+ model info and ignored for a Frigate+ model, so editing them did nothing. Only the path is shown now, which still lets the model be switched to a custom one. * keep a configured input_dtype when saving a Frigate+ model The backend only overwrites `input_dtype` when the Frigate+ model info supplies `inputDataType`, which older models don't, so a configured dtype still matters for them. Saving the models section was dropping it along with the fields the backend always overwrites. * probe every go2rtc stream until one isn't refused The probe stopped after three streams, so with three offline cameras ahead of a working one, WebRTC was marked unreachable everywhere. It only moves past a stream when go2rtc refuses it, which is quick, and a stream that hangs still ends the probe at its timeout, so the cap bought nothing. * only reuse a failed WebRTC probe for the stream it started from A failed probe was reused for 30 seconds by every caller, so a camera whose stream timed out kept WebRTC unavailable for the next camera viewed, including one opened while that probe was still running. A pass still counts for every stream since it proves the connection, but a failure is only reused by probes that start from the same stream. * strip input_dtype from Frigate+ models again A Frigate+ model's config comes entirely from its model info, and a missing `inputDataType` means the `int` default. Keeping `input_dtype` meant switching from a custom model with `input_dtype: float` to a Frigate+ model carried the stale dtype over, with the field hidden so it couldn't be corrected. |

Apple Silicon Macs via lighter: ONNX detector on the Neural Engine and media engine decode (#24453)
* Run ONNX models on a Mac's Neural Engine through lighter's plugin provider lighter's lighter.sh/ane device places an ONNX Runtime plugin execution provider in the container. When it is present, the ONNX session setup registers it once and opens sessions on its Neural Engine device, the same place CUDA, ROCm and OpenVINO are chosen, so the onnx detector (and any model that is not pinned to the CPU) runs there with no configuration. The hardware probe reports it as an onnx unit. * docs: hardware decode on an Apple Silicon Mac under lighter A community section on the video decoding page: lighter's lighter.sh/video device, hwaccel_args -c:v h264_v4l2m2m, and why the Raspberry Pi presets decode a single-stream camera in software. * fix watchdog process restarts reverting to the boot config /api/config/set parses a new FrigateConfig and swaps the API and dispatcher onto it, but FrigateApp.config was never rebound, so the watchdog factories rebuilt a crashed process from the config as of startup. Fix is to read through a ConfigHolder that the swap updates. * fix birdseye camera overrides being clobbered by a global mode change A global birdseye save published only the global object, leaving the output process to infer which cameras were inheriting by comparing against the previous global mode. That cannot tell an inherited value from an explicit one that happens to match, so it overwrote the override until a restart. Publish the per-camera values the config parse already resolved instead. * Reject non-finite numbers in GenAI review descriptions A model returning NaN for confidence or potential_threat_level slipped through the model_construct fallback, which skips validation, and was written into the review segment's JSON data. NaN is not valid JSON, so every subsequent /review request failed with "Out of range float values are not JSON compliant", blanking the review page for any time range containing the poisoned row. * restore fused DetectionOutput in the OpenVINO SSD model conversion * fix rgb swap issue for face dataset testing script |

Fix persisted runtime camera toggles (#23734)
* preserve runtime camera toggles across config saves Runtime toggles (camera on/off, detect, recordings, snapshots, audio) mutate the in-memory config and persist an override to .runtime_state.json. /api/config/set re-parses yaml into a fresh FrigateConfig and swaps it in, re-applying the yaml and profile layers but dropping the runtime layer, so a camera turned off from the dashboard came back on when an unrelated camera was saved. The workers were never notified, so it only appeared to come back: the UI streamed go2rtc while ffmpeg stayed stopped. Extract the startup replay into Dispatcher.apply_runtime_state() and call it from config_set after the swap, re-layering the overrides and republishing them so workers and the UI reconverge. Remove the broad clear_runtime_state() from ProfileManager.update_config, which is only ever reached from config_set: with a profile active, every save wiped every camera's overrides from disk. The broad wipe stays in activate_profile, where a real profile switch does invalidate the steady state. Saves still clear the keys they rewrote via clear_runtime_state_for_yaml_keys, so yaml wins where the two disagree. * sync runtime config on camera delete and prune its overrides Deleting a camera re-parsed yaml into a fresh FrigateConfig but only rebound app.frigate_config and genai_manager, never dispatcher.config (nor profile_manager, stats_emitter, or the runtime overrides). The API and the dispatcher then drifted onto different config objects until the next config save re-synced them, so the API reported surviving cameras with their yaml enabled state while the dispatcher still acted on their real runtime state. Extract the config swap that config_set already does into a shared swap_runtime_config helper and call it from both sites, so every collaborator is rebound and the surviving cameras' runtime toggles are re-layered. Also drop the deleted camera's persisted overrides via a new clear_camera so a camera later added under the same name does not inherit them. |

* unlink shm frames when camera is removed * drop stale shm cache refs when cached segment is too small for requested shape * skip new-object frame cache write when current_frame is unavailable * add tests * use setdefault when adding a new camera Multiple subscribers in the same process each unpickle the ZMQ payload independently and would otherwise write divergent Python objects to the shared cameras dict — leaving long-lived references (e.g. CameraState.camera_config) pointing at a copy that subsequent in-place mutations like apply_section_update can never reach. setdefault collapses everyone onto the first writer's object so attribute mutations propagate to every consumer in this process. * rebuild ffmpeg commands on detect update Rebuild the cached ffmpeg cmd so the next process spawn picks up new resolution/fps. Running cameras keep their existing cmd (ffmpeg_cmds is only read at process startup); replay cameras are recycled by CameraMaintainer to pick up the rebuilt cmd * drop stale shm cache refs when cached segment size doesn't match requested shape The cached SharedMemoryFrameManager reference can point at a segment whose size no longer matches the requested shape — the segment was unlinked and recreated at a different size in a camera add/remove cycle. This catches both a resolution increase (cached too small) and a decrease (cached too large, pointing at an orphaned inode whose stale bytes would otherwise be misinterpreted at the new shape, producing distorted/miscolored YUV frames). After reopening, if the OS-level segment still doesn't match the requested shape we're in a transient mid-recreate state — either the maintainer hasn't allocated the new segment yet (size too small) or we opened a pre-recycle segment (size too big). Either way, skip the frame and don't cache the mismatched ref. * recycle replay camera on detect update * discard tracked-object state when detect resolution changes mid-session When detect resolution changes mid-session every tracked object we hold was localized against the old pixel grid. Their boxes no longer correspond to anything in the new frame, and the `end` callback that fires when their IDs disappear from the new detect process's detections publishes those stale boxes to consumers (LPR, snapshot crop) that slice the new frame and crash on empty arrays. Drop the tracked-object state on a shape change so no stale boxes ever cross the CameraState boundary. Belt-and-suspenders: also drop any incoming batch whose boxes exceed the current detect resolution. These are in-flight queue entries from the pre-recycle detect process that beat the new detect process to the queue; processing them would re-introduce stale-resolution tracked objects we just dropped above. The per-camera detect process clamps legitimate boxes to detect.width-1 / detect.height-1, so any coord beyond that is unambiguously stale. * rebuild motion and object filter masks on detect resolution change Apply the detect update first so frame_shape reflects the new resolution before we rebuild dependents. Motion's rasterized_mask is sized to frame_shape at construction. When detect resolution changes we must rebuild RuntimeMotionConfig so the mask matches the new frame size; otherwise consumers like the LPR processor and motion detector hit a shape mismatch when they index frames with the stale mask. Same story for per-object filter masks — rebuild RuntimeFilterConfig at the new frame_shape so the merged global+per-object masks they hold match what they'll be indexed against. * republish motion and objects on in-memory detect resize A detect resolution change also invalidates the rasterized masks on motion and per-object filters. apply_section_update has rebuilt them at the new frame_shape; publish them too so other processes replace their old values. * add test * frontend * add refresh topic for camera maintainer recycle action The maintainer's recycle branch is doing an action (recycle the camera) in response to a section-level signal. Introduce a CameraConfigUpdateEnum.refresh case as an explicit action signal — the maintainer subscribes to refresh instead of detect, parallel with add and remove. Publishers fire refresh alongside detect when a recycle is needed; section-level subscribers keep their existing topic. Since no main-process subscriber listens for detect anymore, the refresh handler calls recreate_ffmpeg_cmds() explicitly so the shared CameraConfig's ffmpeg_cmds is rebuilt before the new subprocesses spawn. * factor stale-resolution state drop into a CameraState method |

UI fixes (#23127)
* hide camera overrides badge from system sections * show empty card on camera metrics page when no cameras are defined * fix enabled camera state switch after adding via wizard Cameras added mid-session have no WS state until the dispatcher publishes camera_activity (which only happens on a fresh onConnect). Fall back to the config's enabled value so the switch reflects reality immediately after the wizard closes. * guard camera enabled access console would throw errors after adding via camera wizard * fix useOptimisticState dropping debounced setState under StrictMode * use openvino on cpu as default model - faster than tflite on cpu - add to default generated config * use an enum for model_size the frontend will then render this as a select dropdown because of the changes in the json schema * i18n * sync object filter entries with tracked labels in camera config form Filter sub-collapsibles in the camera Objects section are driven by `filters` dict keys, but profile merges and live track-switch edits don't add matching entries, so newly tracked labels (like from a profile override) had no collapsible. Synthesize default filter entries from `track` in the form data so every tracked label renders a collapsible; baseline data also gets the synthesized entries, so save payloads are unchanged. * revalidate raw paths cache after config save so CameraPathWidget shows fresh credentials * fix test * restore masked ffmpeg credentials when persisting camera config * formatting * rebuild ffmpeg commands when enabling recording for the first time Toggling record.enabled from the config UI updated the in-memory config but left ffmpeg running with its original command, so the record output args were never wired in and nothing landed in the cache for the maintainer to move. The record config update now rebuilds ffmpeg_cmds when enabled_in_config transitions, and the camera watchdog restarts ffmpeg on a false to true transition so the record output gets wired in. MQTT toggles, which only flip record.enabled at runtime, are unaffected and continue to work via the maintainer's drop/keep gate. * keep record toggle switch in single camera view disabled until enabled in config * fix override detection for sections unset in the global config Override badges and the blue dot now compare against schema defaults for sections like motion that the API serializes as null when omitted from the global YAML, instead of treating any populated camera config as an override * add support for config-aware patterns in section hiddenFields Section configs can now declare dynamic hidden-field entries as functions of the loaded config; objects.ts uses this to hide auto-populated attribute filters (DHL, face, license_plate, etc.) from the form, save flow, and override popover when those labels aren't user-settable * siimplify object filters handling live updating was getting very messy. users will just need to save once they enable a new object in order to see filters for that object * tweaks * update docs for new detector default * make genai provider required and add special case for UI prevent validation errors from appearing on initial creation of genai provider by setting the first option in the select dropdown as default |

Miscellaneous improvements (#22714)
* scrub genai API keys and onvif credentials from config endpoint
* enforce camera access in thumbnail tracked-object fallback
The /events/{id}/thumbnail endpoint called require_camera_access when
loading persisted events but skipped the check in the tracked-object
fallback path for in-progress events. A restricted viewer could
retrieve thumbnails from cameras they should not have access to.
* block filter and attach flags in custom ffmpeg export args
The ffmpeg argument blocklist missed -filter_complex, -lavfi, -vf,
-af, -filter, and -attach. These flags can read arbitrary files via
source filters like movie= and amovie=, bypassing the existing -i
block. A user with camera access could exploit this through the
custom export endpoint.
* enforce camera access on VLM monitor endpoint
POST /vlm/monitor allowed any authenticated user to start VLM
monitoring on any camera without checking camera access. A viewer
restricted to specific cameras could monitor cameras they should
not have access to.
* enforce camera access in chat start_camera_watch tool
The start_camera_watch tool called via POST /chat/completion did not
validate camera access, allowing a restricted viewer to start VLM
monitoring on cameras outside their allowed set through the chat
interface.
* restrict review summary endpoint to admin role
* fix require_role call passing string instead of list
* fix section config uiSchema merge replacing base entries
mergeSectionConfig was replacing the entire base uiSchema when a
level override (global/camera) also defined one, causing base-level
ui:after/ui:before directives to be silently dropped. This broke
the SemanticSearchReindex button which was defined in base uiSchema.

When the frontend merged these over the camera's base config, explicitly-set base values were lost. Now profile overrides are re-dumped with exclude_unset=True so only user-specified fields are returned. Also fixes the Save All path generating spurious deletion markers for restart-required fields that are hidden during profile editing but not excluded from the raw data sanitization in prepareSectionSavePayload. * docs tweaks * docs tweak * formatting * formatting * fix typing * fix test pollution test_maintainer was injecting MagicMock() into sys.modules["frigate.config.camera.updater"] at module load time and never restoring it. When the profile tests later imported CameraConfigUpdateEnum and CameraConfigUpdateTopic from that module, they got mock objects instead of the real dataclass/enum, so equality comparisons always failed * remove * fix settings showing profile-merged values when editing base config When a profile is active, the in-memory config contains effective (profile-merged) values. The settings UI was displaying these merged values even when the "Base Config" view was selected. Backend: snapshot pre-profile base configs in ProfileManager and expose them via a `base_config` key in the /api/config camera response when a profile is active. The top-level sections continue to reflect the effective running config. Frontend: read from `base_config` when available in BaseSection, useConfigOverride, useAllCameraOverrides, and prepareSectionSavePayload. Include formData labels in Object/Audio switches widgets so that labels added only by a profile override remain visible when editing that profile. * use rasterized_mask as field makes it easier to exclude from the schema with exclude=True prevents leaking of the field when using model_dump for profiles * fix zones - Fix zone colors not matching across profiles by falling back to base zone color when profile zone data lacks a color field - Use base_config for base-layer values in masks/zones view so profile-merged values don't pollute the base config editing view - Handle zones separately in profile manager snapshot/restore since ZoneConfig requires special serialization (color as private attr, contour generation) - Inherit base zone color and generate contours for profile zone overrides in profile manager * formatting * don't require restart for camera enabled change for profiles * publish camera state when changing profiles * formatting * remove available profiles from mqtt * improve typing |

* face recognition dynamic config * lpr dynamic config * safe changes for birdseye dynamic config * bird classification dynamic config * always assign new config to stats emitter to make telemetry fields dynamic * add wildcard support for camera config updates in config_set * update restart required fields for global sections * add test * fix rebase issue * collapsible settings sidebar use the preexisting control available with shadcn's sidebar (cmd/ctrl-B) to give users more space to set masks/zones on smaller screens * dynamic ffmpeg * ensure previews dir exists when ffmpeg processes restart, there's a brief window where the preview frame generation pipeline is torn down and restarted. before these changes, ffmpeg only restarted on crash/stall recovery or full Frigate restart. Now that ffmpeg restarts happen on-demand via config changes, there's a higher chance a frontend request hits the preview_mp4 or preview_gif endpoints during that brief restart window when the directory might not exist yet. The existing os.listdir() call would throw FileNotFoundError without a directory existence check. this fix just checks if the directory exists and returns 404 if not, exactly how preview_thumbnail already handles the same scenario a few lines below * global ffmpeg section * clean up * tweak * fix test |
